2008 Longboard Luau

THE LUAU & LONGBOARD INVITATIONAL, over the past 14 years, has raised more than $2.6 million for San Diego's very own Moores UCSD Cancer Center, one of the nation's top cancer treatment centers that combines advanced care and cutting-edge research. We have two special events this year. Come celebrate 15 years surfing for a cure! 2nd Annual Survivor Beach: Help break a surf record – show off your quiver! When: August 10, 2008 – registration starts at 8 a.m. Where: On the beach near Scripps Pier Cost: Free The goal of Survivor Beach is to increase cancer awareness and support cancer survivors. Participants will attempt to create the longest line of surfboards by laying them in the sand nose-to-tail. The line will start at Scripps Pier and extend towards La Jolla Shores. Help us break last year's record of 1133 feet - just more than three football fields long! Participants will receive a free “Surfing for a Cure” souvenir and be registered to win a pair of tickets for the 15th annual Luau and Longboard Invitational. The Heali'i's Polynesian Revue (www.healiis.com) will perform traditional dances and blow the conch to start the event.
